The Morph concept device is a bridge between highly advanced technologies and their potential benefits to end-users. This device concept showcases some revolutionary leaps being explored by Nokia Research Center (NRC) in collaboration with the Cambridge Nanoscience Centre (United Kingdom) nanoscale technologies that will potentially create a world of radically different devices that open up an entirely new spectrum of possibilities.
Morph concept technologies might create fantastic opportunities for mobile devices:
* Newly-enabled flexible and transparent materials blend more seamlessly with the way we live
* Devices become self-cleaning and self-preserving
* Transparent electronics offering an entirely new aesthetic dimension
* Built-in solar absorption might charge a device, whilst batteries become smaller, longer lasting and faster to charge
* Integrated sensors might allow us to learn more about the environment around us, empowering us to make better choices
In addition to the advances above, the integrated electronics shown in the Morph concept could cost less and include more functionality in a much smaller space, even as interfaces are simplified and usability is enhanced. All of these new capabilities will unleash new applications and services that will allow us to communicate and interact in unprecedented ways.

omg that is uh-mazing

Err they forgot to …
Err they forgot to include a laser cannon and photonic torpedos, also a fold out car with a cloaking device probably wouldn’t have been too much to ask for either? Kinda reminds me of that film “ultraviolet”. Though I am aware alot of that nanotechnology was in existance at Reading university before they closed the engineering department….

Some of you should …
Some of you should think about what your saying back in the day people said we would never fly or go to space and guess what its here. just a thought =)

maybe you can have …
maybe you can have one in hell? because this will never gonna happen.
June 10th, 2010 at 11:46 am
i can do that with …
i can do that with paper.
June 10th, 2010 at 11:46 am
This would never …
This would never happen :O Its a bit fancy for a phone though, having to fold it and unfold it ect. Amazing though !

never in a million …
never in a million years will this ever happen?

its great with …
its great with people lke you. those people will continue to think like this and wont die when technology up. i like the evolution of technology buy im always prepared that everything could break

i dont like where …
i dont like where this going… the machines will turn against us 1 day… wlell probs not, but in not even 50 years, we will be so dependant on techonology that if it up, we’re dead

oh my.. – -;
yeah.
when would actually COME OUT? haha.
June 10th, 2010 at 11:46 am
you have no idea …
you have no idea how cool this is..like i would sell my house if i had one.
but my friend’s right in a sense, that this would slowly terminate the way people communicated through letters and stuff like that
June 10th, 2010 at 11:46 am
sorry, forgot this. …
sorry, forgot this.
And, by the time they get this stuff publicaly available, it’s be so cheap, that even Hobos (No offense to anyone who is in the wayyyy lower class) could have this stuff.
June 10th, 2010 at 11:46 am
or, why not just …
or, why not just have your computer BE your clothes????
I mean, with nanotechnology, you could have them custom fitted in about 30 seconds.
And, the great thing is our generation wiil get to have this awesome stuf
June 10th, 2010 at 11:46 am
Nanotechnology is …
Nanotechnology is just incredible, anything is possible.
But by the time such devices are truly possible, why restrict it to a handheld device like that?
I think all our computer tech will simply be designed into clothing. Wearable computers.
Instead of a display screen, glasses or contacts would be the screen!
Also, imagine that fly being a nanotech device. It could be a wireless network repeater, or router, and swarms of such devices could populate the world, creating truly ubiquitous nets.

June 10th, 2010 at 11:46 am
sheer amazement …
sheer amazement this technology is amazing! i believe it can be done it is possible to generate energy through solar panels and nanotechnology can create self generating sources!!
this is a possibility in the next 5 to 10 years!!
June 10th, 2010 at 11:46 am
actually i know …
actually i know someone who works for nokia and they have made a working prototype of the device
June 10th, 2010 at 11:46 am
not yet but if you …
not yet but if you look at 1970’s mobile phone as we know it now was just a phantasy, in the last years we have advanced rapidly in technology and science if politics and economics will stabilize and religion will not stand our (science, future’s) way then we have a bright future perhaps we wont see it but we must do what we can so our children / human race would see it and achieve things we can only dream about.

are they working on …
